I agree with you Oliver.
A centuries old nation will never start changing all these things because a lot of people are too dumb to learn geography properly. Nations are proud groupings of people so instead of tweaking other countries' images to your own liking, read a book on European history.

Hello Oliver, I agree mostly with you. Please notice that as stated in the article, this is just a nation branding experiment, nothing else.

Interesting article, though the reality is that name and flag are one of the most intimate, even sacred, symbols of any nation and it is only through an internal soul-searching process, not via imaginative branding consultants from outside, that this process could have a legitimacy, and therefore a chance to succeed. Drawing nice-looking flags is the easy part...

Romanian as nationality, has the same problem with Rroma nationality. A lot of people think that there are no Romanians in Romania, only Rroma. Well it's no like this. Rroma is a minority in Romania.

But we are not changing now the politically correct name of Rroma nationality.

Best solution is that people will start to make the damn difference!
These two examples are not the only in the world.

[...] these two countries get mixed up more than I thought. Here’s an interesting article on why Slovenia should rebrand itself and a comparison with Slovakia. I’ve never had a problem, but then again, I can read a map! [...]
